Painting a wren

In my bid to find time to paint, I decided to do some smaller paintings, little gems (I hope!), as Deborah Paris calls them, at night when my Dad is sleeping. Of course I am completely exhausted, but mentally feel more satisfied. Hopefully I can sell these on my blog. This is how the first one went last night, painting a familiar subject for safety reasons! I am not a 'painting a day' painter. I don't think I can avoid glazing which is what I find so wonderful about oil painting, but hopefully these will be more direct and small! Will post the next stage hopefully soon.

A little more snow!

We had another sprinkling of snow yesterday and I took a little walk, desperate for some fresh air, and saw that the snow had stuck to the church spire creating some wonderful patterns. Sadly, my movements are very restricted these days, so I am trying to throw myself into my work at every opportunity available. I have a number of projects on the go and will post some soon. I started a blackbird the other day, on a white background, inspired by watching all the blackbirds in the garden, stark against the snow.

Bird Sketches

I spent this last weekend in London with my 'grown up' children. Lovely! Such a treat for me now I am back here in the UK. It's what I have been longing for, for so many years.... I am just loving the spontaneity of it. Whilst they were all snoozing in their beds I managed to get a couple of sketches done!

I finally got these paintings back from my new framer in Cambridge. It's so good to get something finished and framed after all this time of trying to juggle the role of carer to my Father and being an artist! This is proof that I have been doing something!
